Where does the tour start?
Most tours start in Broken Hill at a central location. Our 9-day Strzelecki and Oodnadatta Tracks tour finishes in Coober Pedy. Our 15-day Birdsville Tour finishes in Longreach.
Tag-along Participation
As a tag-along participant you are indeed very much a part of our group. We do all the organising for you, provide the meals and accommodation (where indicated), and communicate via UHF radios so that you do not miss out on any information whilst travelling.Back to Top ^

Is a tag-along tour suitable for off-road style caravans?
Yes!Back to Top ^
What is the average tour size?
We only operate with small numbers of vehicles – for environment and safety reasons – as well as to provide a more personalised experience.Back to Top ^
What should I bring?
Bring clothes suitable for the weather to be expected at the time, sleeping bag if camping, personal toiletries, a hat, sunscreen, a torch, plenty of camera film and batteries (if applicable). If you are taking any medication please ensure you have sufficient for the duration of the tour. We will provide you with a comprehensive preparation list on receipt of your tour deposit. Finally, don’t forget your sense of adventure – and humour!Back to Top ^
Are there any toilets along the way?
Toilet facilities are few and far between because much of our travel is in remote areas. However we do stop at facilities at every opportunity. At other times bushes and trees are a great substitute!Back to Top ^
What am I likely to see along the way?
Varies for each tour, but be assured that our Guides are experts at spotting wildlife, birds and wildflowers. Expect to see kangaroos, emus, wedge-tail eagles and other birds, lizards, and more.Back to Top ^
What is the weather going to be like?
The weather varies during the year and from region to region. Often it can be unpredictable! Check with us prior to departure.Back to Top ^
What facilities can I expect?
Included with the preparation list we provide is a comprehensive list of the facilities available at each place we visit. This information includes such essentials as EFTPOS/credit card, shops, banks, laundry facilities and mobile phone coverage.Back to Top ^
What if something goes wrong?
We have an emergency plan in place in the unlikely event that something does go wrong. We carry First Aid kits and your Guide will also be a trained First Aider. We also carry Satellite Phones for use in remote areas if we need to contact emergency services.Back to Top ^
What happens if it rains?
Many Outback roads are unsealed, and therefore rains can cause road closures. In the unlikely event that this happens we will make every effort to re-route the tour, but this is not always possible. On very rare occasions (three times in 23 years!) we may need to extend our stay in a remote town due to closed roads. Therefore we recommend travel insurance to cover any extra costs incurred by you because of this.Back to Top ^
Are tag-along tours suitable for older people?
All our tours are suitable for older people – the young at heart! Many of our participants are over 50, so age is no limit. You do not need to be overly fit, but you do need to be in good health as we travel in remote areas. Age is no limit – you just need a sense of adventure and humour!Back to Top ^
Are children welcome on the tours?
Family groups and children are welcome on all our tours.Back to Top ^
Can I create a custom-made itinerary?
We often create customised itineraries for groups. Special interests such as bird-watching, bush-walking, photography or 4WDing are all part of our service. Contact us with your ideas.Back to Top ^
What are the bookings and cancellation conditions?
See our booking page (hyperlink) for complete details.Back to Top ^
Do I need travel insurance?
We recommend that you arrange travel insurance to cover any loss or damage to property, cancellation of tour due to unforeseen circumstances or illness or any other eventuality that may result in expenses or loss of income. We also strongly advise that you have comprehensive insurance cover for your vehicle and/or trailer and/or campervan etc,Back to Top ^
